When fat loss is the goal, compound exercises can challenge several muscle groups at once and help preserve lean muscle. Legs and glutes, the back and shoulders, the chest and arms, the core, and full-body movements all have a place in a balanced routine.
Squats, lunges, rows, push-ups, planks, kettlebell swings, and other movements can build strength while increasing the energy demand of a session. Fat loss still depends on your overall pattern of eating and activity, not one magical muscle group.
